Bud’s Burgers

By @rach.eatrn aka Rachel Cantor

For many locals, Bud's is one of the backdrops of their youth.”

I’ve always known Bud’s Burgers as that burger joint on Sonoma blvd. with the cool, vintage sign that lights up at night. Bud’s has been a staple of our city, Vallejo, since 1973! Which is why, “...Bud’s is one the backdrops of their youth.” And it continues to be that way for generations and generations after that.

Unfortunately, Bud’s did get into a fire accident, but a year after, they were able to pick up the pieces and continued the tradition that Bud has been serving for decades- grinding their own meat and cutting their own potatoes for fries.

I had the chance to take #vallejo2go at Bud’s! I called them to clarify their store hours, open from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm, put in my order and was able to pick it up within 10-15 minutes. I usually look at menus via Yelp or Instagram, but both were not helpful to me at the time. Thankfully, Bud’s website, provides pictures of their menu!

FOOD!

Here’s what I ordered:

Giant Cheese Burger, Giant Burger, Double Giant Cheese + Bacon

And I can’t forget the fries!

Upon arrival, they had a lot of takeout! I’m not surprised though because Bud’s is super affordable and definitely worth your buck! They also sell a kid;s corn dog and a chicken sandwich, and no hate to chicken or corn dogs, but I came for burgers from Bud’s!

I can’t speak if maybe their recipe changed, but from their popularity, I can assure you that your tastebuds will be satisfied! I absolutely love their fries! You can just tell they are not from frozen, pre-packed and pre-cut potatoes. The family size fries are perfect for a family or 3-4, and if you’re in a bigger family, I highly suggest ordering the family size times two or three.

This burger joint is a classic, Vallejo favorite! Despite its location, their burgers are QUALITY. But if you’re feeling iffy, just call in and you’ll be out in less than 2 minutes.

Thank you to the late-Albert “Bud” Hanley for opening Bud’s Burgers!
