WHAT:
Create a positive environment for attendees to interact, and learn about polio, our successes and challenges. It is our desire that participants leave empowered to make a difference in their local communities.
Encourage supporting Rotary’s Polio Plus campaign through donations and educating the public.
Teach attendees about Post-Polio Syndrome (PPS) and what they can do to help polio survivors who experience rapid muscular weakness find PPS support systems and advocate for increase of accessibility for people with disabilities.
Promote routine vaccinations (of all appropriate diseases) for all children to maintain herd immunity.
ACTIVITIES:
Polio EXPO- exhibits provided by the San Francisco/Bay Area Polio Survivors
Groups and Medical equipment vendors. Brief talks throughout the event from Polio experts and Survivors
Interactive experiences by vendors- to empower attendees to serve as accessibility advocates.
Sensitivity experiences to educate the attendees to the challenges of Post-Polio and other disabilities.
