This intensive workshop will offer participants a 3-day sculpting experience of the human head with artist Tyson Snow, a sculptor who works in a variety of media, with more than 25 years of experience. Demonstrations and individual critiques will focus on basic and advanced concepts of portraiture, light and form, and anatomical and proportional canons. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing a structured thought process for deconstructing visual information and creating a methodical approach for translating anatomical information accurately in clay. Students will be guided through a comprehensive investigation of the human form and equipped with the tools to compose an accurate and convincing portrait in three dimensions.
All necessary tools including sculpture stands, armatures and clay will be provided, or you may bring your own. After the three-day workshop, the artist will prepare each student’s work for firing.
