Formerly housed in the Mare Island Museum, an exhibit commemorating Filipinos relationship and contributions to Mare Island Naval shipyard will be unveiled in the McCune Room at John F. Kennedy Library.
The founder of the Filipino-American National Historical Society - Vallejo chapter FANHS, describes this collection as the relationship between Mare Island the Philippines dates back to 1898 and directly led to the employment of thousands of Filipinos up to its closing in 1998. Filipinos worked at Mare Island and contributed to the operations on Mare Island and subsequently helped shape the Filipino community in Vallejo as we know it today.
During the 2nd Friday Art Walk, visitors can enter the McCune Collection directly from the staircase on the plaza at the corner of Georgia at Santa Clara Streets.
