The Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra featuring Terrie Odabi
The Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra was formed in San Francisco by guitarist Anthony Paule in 2007. Inspired by soul and blues sounds of the ‘60s and ‘70s, this dramatic horn-driven powerhouse creates its own classics, while staying deeply rooted in the origins of this treasured African American art form. After previously having singers like Wee Willie Walker and Franks Bay, the extremely talented Terry Odabi has now officially joined the APSO as their lead vocalist.
During its 15 years of existence, APSO has recorded and released six singles and five albums with Frank Bey and Wee Willie Walker. The recordings earned 17 BMA nominations, as well as coveted positions on radio playlists, and music critic’s “best of” lists. On its 2014 European tour, APSO performed at the globally acclaimed, prestigious Porretta Soul Festival in Italy.
APSO is currently writing songs for its sixth album on Blue Dot Records. Relatable, empathetic songwriting; pure heart-sung vocals, and supportive, passionate instrumental performances form the backbone of this band. APSO has its own captivating sound, but if comparisons must be made, those which come to mind are Al Green, Mavis Staples, Etta James, Bobby Bland, Carla Thomas, Bobby Womack, and the Stax and Motown record labels.
