Dakila

  • Vino Godfather Winery 1005 Walnut Ave. Vallejo United States (map)

Dakila was the first FilAm Bay Area Rock band of its kind to sign a recording contract with a major label Epic/Columbia Records in 1972.  They appeared in countless concerts including Bill Graham's Winterland and Filmore West in SF, and was well known for their support for the United Farm Workers by donating free concerts for their cause in the early 70's. They shared the stage with Cheech and Chong, Tower of Power, Malo, Buddy Miles and countless more popular acts of the 70's, which is evident in their appearance in the recent film documentary, "A Song For Cesar."  The band was resurrected in 2013 by the remaining original member David Bustamante, a recipient of the 2018 Arts for a Better Bay Area, ABBA, award for music and culture.  Their recent single titled "Mama Ko," can be downloaded on all streaming platforms along with their music video.  A project currently in the works for a movie documentary titled, Searchin' For My Soul the Dakila Story, is scheduled to release in late 2024.
