A Night of Spectacular Duos

  • Empress Theatre 330 Virginia St. Vallejo United States (map)

The Empress Theatre presents "A Night of Spectacular Duo's" featuring The Young Fables, Honey of the Heart, and Complicated Animals. Music ranging from country to folk, soul to pop, and Bossa Nova. All three duo's will be set-up on stage in a round robin style, where they take turns sharing their songs and stories with the audience. This is a follow-up to the 2019 performance at the Empress Theatre where the audience was engaged from start to finish!

The Young Fables are a very successful country duo comprised of three-time American Idol vet Laurel Wright and accomplished guitarist and vocalist Wesley Lunsford. The act hails from Maryville, Tennessee and has already collected impressive accolades including the Grand Prize at the Texaco Country Showdown which landed Laurel on the Ryman Auditorium stage at age 16. Laurel Wright and Wes Lunsford weave classic storytelling into traditional roots music with pop sensibilities. The duo’s unique sound has resonated with audiences around the globe. Alongside of The Young Fables critically acclaimed new album PAGES, the team's feature documentary "The Fable of a Song" won the Nashville Film Festival Audience Choice Award in 2021.

Honey of the Heart features Justin Ancheta and Maren Metke. The dynamic Grass Valley duo is the driving force behind a project that is even sweeter than it sounds. Honey of the Heart is an ambrosial mix of musical interpretations influenced by folk, soul, roots, and world/flamenco styles. Built upon a repertoire of uplifting original material. Their music can get as intimate as just vocals and Ukulele and emote a sweet nectar of sounds that can bring people to personal revelation and uplift the power of joy in our hearts.

Complicated Animals' Monica da Silva and Chad Alger have been collaborating in music and in life, since meeting in Chicago in 2007. They released the album "Brasilissima" in 2010, under da Silva's name. Having lived in both the United States and Brazil, da Silva combined her two cultures into her writing, melding Indie Pop and Bossa Nova together to form a new genre, one she coined Indie Nova. This international duo feature songs in English and Portuguese. Complicated Animals have performed on TED, and shared stages with the likes of Emmylou Harris, Jenny O, Reeve Carney, Gaelynn Lea, The Oh Hellos, and Rodrigo Amarante.
